Ecuador is regarded as a coffee country. We are a coffee producer country and Ecuadorians enjoy drinking coffee along the day as part of meals, after meals or just as a mean of social interactions. This overview of our country was brushed away in my first trip to the southern province of the country years ago.
In my very first minutes in Loja, I discovered what would be one of my favorite beverages until now. It was very interesting to see that instead of sodas, water, coffee or fruit juice, people in this region of Ecuador drank a very exotic herbs infusion.
